The ISSCR is pleased to offer recognition for ISSCR Student or Postdoc Members with outstanding abstracts with Travel Awards, Merit Abstract Awards, and Outstanding Poster Presentation Awards.
To be eligible for Travel, Merit and Poster Awards, you must:
Be a Student or a Post-doc with an active ISSCR Membership as of 21 February 2024
Submit an abstract through the online abstract submission process. Only abstracts submitted by 23:59 EST on 21 February 2024 will be considered. Late-Breaking abstracts are not eligible. Consult the Call for Abstracts page for detailed submission information.
All ISSCR Student or Postdoc members who submit abstracts by 23:59 EST on 21 February 2024 will be considered for Merit Abstract and Poster Presentation Awards.
Note: Late-Breaking Abstracts are those that are submitted between 28 February and 3 April 2024. They are only considered for posters and are not eligible for Travel or Merit Awards.

Recipients are selected based on the quality of the abstract submission with consideration given to geographic representation and diversity. Support for these awards is provided by generous contributions from individuals and organizations within the ISSCR community. A list of supporters will be available in the Program Guide.
As an ISSCR member at the Postdoc or Student level, with active membership as of 21 February 2024, you may choose to be considered for an ISSCR Travel Award. Total award amount is variable based on distance traveled.
The ISSCR will only disburse travel award funds after confirming attendance at the meeting.

14 October 2023 to 23:59 on 14 February 2024 | When submitting an abstract by 14 February, indicate that you would like to be considered for a Travel Award.
21 February 2024 | The date on which a submitter must be an active ISSCR Student or Post-doc member in order to be considered.
5 April 2024 | Travel award notifications will be emailed.
24 April 2024 | Travel award winners must accept and register by this date.

Applicants indicate interest during the online abstract submission process.
• Only ISSCR members at the Post-doc or Student level, with active membership as of 21 February 2024, are eligible for consideration.
• Late-Breaking Abstracts are not eligible for consideration.
• The ISSCR is not able to accommodate the majority of requests for Travel Awards. We highly recommend applicants begin early to identify other sources of funds to attend the ISSCR Annual Meeting. Should you not receive an award; notifications will be received with time to register at the advanced rate before 24 April.
• Submitters who know they can secure other travel funds should consider opting out of travel award consideration to increase opportunities for others.
ISSCR travel awards
*The ISSCR has increased the Young Scientist Travel Award Fund for the ISSCR 2024 Annual Meeting by 40%, extending monetary support to help defray the costs of attending the meeting for early career scientists.
Notification: Applicants will be notified by 5 April 2024 of award status.
Acceptance and registration deadlines: Recipients must accept the award and complete registration by 24 April 2024. Please visit the Call for Abstracts page for more information on abstract deadlines.
Distribution: Awards will be distributed after the Annual Meeting. Funds are intended to defray costs of travel and registration.
Recognition: Awardees are recognized during the meeting, in the Program Book PDF, and on the ISSCR website. An award certificate will be sent to each recipient following the meeting.
ISSCR Merit Awards recognize superior abstracts with a certificate and recognition on the ISSCR website and at the annual meeting. Late-Breaking abstracts are not eligible.
Application: No application is necessary. All Student and Postdoc level ISSCR members who submit their abstract 21 February 2024 will be considered. ISSCR membership must be active as of 21 February 2024.
Notification: Applicants will be notified by 16 May 2024 of award status.
Distribution: An award certificate will be sent to each recipient following the meeting.
Recognition: Awardees are recognized during the meeting, in the Program Book PDF, on the ISSCR website, and by certificate.
ISSCR Merit Awards
ISSCR Outstanding Poster Presentation Awards are based on the quality of the abstract submission and the poster presentation.
Application: No application is necessary. All abstracts from ISSCR members at the Postdoc or Student level, with active membership as of as of 21 February 2024 will be considered. Late-breaking abstracts will not be considered. .
Notification: Winners will be announced during the meeting in the final plenary and notified by email.
Distribution: Following the conclusion of the meeting, the winners be contacted by ISSCR to receive a $250 stipend and complimentary registration to ISSCR's annual meeting the following year and inclusion in a webinar.
Recognition: Awardees are recognized on the ISSCR website. An acknowledgment of the award will be sent to each recipient. Poster awardees will be invited to present their work in a webinar to the ISSCR global community.
